Energy Efficiency Improvements to Sunny Hill Nursing Home
The Sunny Hill Nursing Home is a skilled nursing facility which has been in operation since 1955. The original facility was located south of its current address in Joliet. The current building constructed in 1969 is located at 421 Doris Avenue.
Sunny Hill is a 131,409 square foot, 238 bed facility, which operates 24-hour a day, 7 days a week.
In 2010, a number of renovations were completed to improve the energy efficiency of Sunny Hill.
The list of projects at this facility done with EECBG funds are as follows:
•Replace entrance/exit doors with double pane low E glass.
•Add energy efficient plumbing boiler to heat water.

The Sunny Hill Nursing Home water heating upgrade has received national industry recognition for its energy efficiency. Most recently, it was featured in an article in Wholesaler Magazine (page 68).
