Planning a wedding? Concerned about how your celebration will impact the environment? Join us on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, for a Green Wedding Expo at the Forest Preserve’s beautiful, green wedding venue. Between 12-4 pm vendors representing various wedding specialties will be on-hand with Earth-friendly options and ideas. Informational mini-workshops and light refreshments will be offered. Anyone 18 yrs or older is invited to attend with prospective brides and grooms. Register by Feb. 25.

Earth Hour calls on businesses, government and individuals to turn out their lights for one hour. If possible turn as many electrical devices as possible for one hour. It is a way to increase consciousness of the amount energy we use and find ways to reduce it.

Joliet residents are invited to bring up to two boxes of personal papers and documents to observe the on-site mobile shredding process by Shred X, a local business specializing in document destruction. Residents must show proof of Joliet residency to participate in this event. Papers include: Medical records, Legal papers, Canceled checks, Bank/financial statements, Credit card statements or offers, All shredded paper will be recycled.
