Joliet residents are invited to bring up to two boxes of personal papers and documents to observe the on-site mobile shredding process by Shred X, a local business specializing in document destruction. Residents must show proof of Joliet residency to participate in this event. Papers include: Medical records, Legal papers, Canceled checks, Bank/financial statements, Credit card statements or offers, All shredded paper will be recycled.

Bring unwanted household chemicals such as oil-based paint, stains and variishes, along with oil, antifreeze, old gasoline, brake fluid, pesticides, fertilizers, cleaning products and more to this one-day collection event. It is free of charge for Will County residents. Mercury and most mercury containing items are accepted. Other items include: pool chemicals, recharagable batteries, lead-acid batteries, compact fluorescent lights, aerosol products and lawn chemicals.

Elwood Community Church is joining Will County in offering a one-day electronic recycling event at Elwood Community School, located at 409 N. Chicago in Elwood. Earth Day is the perfect occasion to get reacquainted with one of the Earth's most precious resources. "Celebrate Water" is a family-friendly water festival with exhibits on water conservation and recreation, presentations on water topics, children's stories and art, outdoor displays and activities, and lots of hands-on educational fun. Visitors will be immersed in the many manifestations of the miraculous water molecule. Held at Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon.
