2019 Textile, Shoe & Home Good Collection Event at County Building

Textile Collection at the County Office Building Monday through Friday during normal business hours. This event will accept clothing, blankets, tablecloths, linens, drapes, towels, shoes, and more. Bring items for reuse and recycling. See Scott Slocum from WJOL AM1340 on Friday morning 5:30am-9:00am. Sample bags of compost will be given on Friday to those bringing textiles!
Recycle old shoes, clothes, and other textiles at the County Office Building Monday through Friday during normal business hours in cooperation with Savers. Savers thrift stores provide a wide selection of must-have secondhand clothing, accessories and household goods at an affordable price and keeps more than 700 million pounds of reusable goods from reaching landfills each year.
This event will accept the following items in good or torn, stained and poor condition:
Clothing, Coats, Shirts, Pants, Dresses, Skirts, Jackets, Sweaters, Shoes, Boots, Sneakers/Gym Shoes, Socks, Hats, Neckties, Gloves/Mittens, Drapes, Curtains, Table linens, Bedding, Sheets, Pillow Covers, Blankets, Towels, and fabrics of any kind.
On Friday from 6:00am - 4:00pm a truck will be onsite in the parking lot where you may recycle small furniture, resuable CDs, Books, Movies, Paintings, Photo Frames, Plates/Dishes, Utensils, working small appliances and other reusable home goods.
Sample bags of compost made from food scraps to be used as a valuable nutrient suppliment in gardens and flower beds will be given to those bringing textiles (limit 2 bags per household). The compost is offered through Organix, the company piloting food scrap collection with Will County and two Plainfield High Schools!
