Will County offers several one-day Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events each year. These events are meant to give residents local options to dispose of toxic or flamable chemicals in a safe and secure manner. In addition, Will County helps to fund a permanent HHW site in Naperville that is also funded by other counties and the Illinois EPA. This provides residents with an option for disposal all year long. Please make use of these disposal options or use up hazardous materials as directed.
Electronics were banned from Illinois landfills Jan. 1, 2012. Will County offers 13 drop-off sites in partnership with municipalities and townships that are available for electronic recycling. In addition, electronics such as TVs, Computers, Monitors, Printers, Microwaves, Telephones, Video Recorders and many more will be accepted at this one-day event.
Celebrating Sustainability is working with Dart to provide recycling of foam plastic (Styrofoam) items; Goodwills to accepts all types of fabrics and many household items; Acme to accept scrap metal such as ripped screens, metal hangers, brakes, etc and other organizations.
